Danish Estates: Jorgen Larsen Smooth Bent Dublin (J) (Unsmoked)

Product Number: 004-001-18713

Jørgen Larsen was the sole carver of Peter Stokkebye's pipes, as well as a technical director for both Stanwell and Kriswill. Larsen developed an unfortunate allergy to briar dust and had to eventually retire from pipe making, leaving behind an impressive legacy of quality craftsmanship. It's obvious that this pipe was made by highly skilled, very methodical hands, and getting your hands on a Jørgen Larsen like this bent Dublin is a real prize. Even more important than its rarity, is that it's just a beautiful design that's clearly been shaped to maximize the briar's grain orientation. The rounded rim is loaded with birdseye, with a firm ridgeline separating it from the tight tendrils of flame grain that cascade down the rest of the bowl, gradually tapering to a softly rounded heel spur. The upward arcing shank gives this piece a check-mark silhouette, leading to the gently downturned cumberland mouthpiece. It's presented here in unsmoked condition.
