Danish Estates: Teddy Knudsen Smooth Bent Dublin with Boxwood
Product Number: 004-001-18985
The bowl presents a subtle asymmetry on this Teddy Knudsen Dublin, with an offset, oval bowl supported by a wide rim of knobby, undulating plateau. Smoothness of curvature dominates the shape, the line of its underside sweeping along the heel and up the far flank. A soft transition introduces a shank that is upward curving to a unique boxwood accent treatment that has the appearance of an elegant band around the shank, while the long and slender stem extends up and then down in a flat saddle configuration.
Teddy opened his own pipe making workshop in 1970, and for fifty years he has been making some of the most respected briars in the world. He specializes in incorporating grain into the pipe's shaping, and this Dublin demonstrates that carving philosophy, its vertical tendrils of grain rising with the shape of the bowl, which promises comfort and visual interest for a long career of pleasurable smoking.- Chuck Stanion
