Danish Estates: Teddy Knudsen Smooth Bent Brandy with Boxwood
Product Number: 004-001-20055
When discussing historic Danish artisan pipe makers, Teddy Knudsen name arrives alongside the likes of Hans "Former" Nielsen, the Ivarssons, and Jess Chonowitsch — many of them even crossing paths during their tenures working for the W.Ø. Larsen workshop. Teddy was among those carvers who handmade Larsen's highgrade Select and Straight Grain pipes, and his recognizably sinuous and gestural style, as well as his button work often makes his Larsen pipes distinguishable by those who know what to look for. This bent Brandy, though, is not from W.Ø. Larsen, having been fashioned by Teddy under his own name and in his own, personal workshop. His fluid style, though, is well represented in the gestural bend of shank and stem, curling into the voluptuous bowl upon which rise streaks of flame grain. It's a gorgeous interpretation of the classic shape, dressed in an auburn stain and accented with boxwood.
