Danish Estates: Tao Smooth Bent Bulldog with Horn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-21831
Previous renditions of the bent Bulldog shape we've received from Jens "Tao" Nielsen have been muscular and compact, the pocket-friendly proportions an homage, perhaps, to the pipes the former sailor enjoyed while at sea. This piece, however, is quite a departure from that aesthetic, its overall length measuring nearly six inches. Retaining the form's robust demeanor, the towering bowl is replete with domed rim, pronounced beadlines and flanks that taper to an angular, pointed heel. The high-kicking diamond shank and slightly downturned, cumberland stem offer balance and a comfortable smoking posture, with a broad band of pale horn separating them and lending a handsome accent. The Danish carver has dressed this piece in a warm auburn contrast stain, revealing seemingly endless arrays of flame grain along all flanks.
