Danish Estates: Kent Rasmussen Sandblasted Freehand Dublin Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-32375
Kent Rasmussen's shaping style frequently embraces an ornate, sculptural aesthetic informed by whimsical, precise linework with a heavy dose of organicism. This Freehand Dublin is such a piece, its conical bowl tapering quickly to a pointed heel from a broad, flaring rim. The Danish artisan has expertly poised the bowl so that it appears to be propped against a tall Shield design, the latter squaring off at the base, its lines crisply fashioned. The softly paneled shank is quite gestural in its gradual upswing, with the stylish shank continuing that gentle arch at its base. This piece is dressed in a dark sandblast, with plenty of textural intrigue to be found in its ridges and facets, a testament to the carver's background in architecture and engineering.
