Danish Estates: Stanwell Hand Made (89) (Regd. No.) (1948-1960s) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-32778

Dated to sometime between 1948 and the 1960s, this "89" from Stanwell is something of a hybrid shape, merging elements of the Acorn, the Lumberman, and the Dublin. A tall, softly contoured bowl rises at the fore of the composition and blooms into an inflated rim, while out back a trim oval shank glides into a slender saddle stem of jet-black vulcanite. Measuring just over five inches in total length, this piece is rather compact and appropriately lightweight in hand. The shank and stem keep the pipe sleek and streamlined in profile, and the gorgeous auburn smooth finish that dresses the stummel highlights the natural grain orientation of the briar rather brilliantly.
