Danish Estates: Stanwell Royal Briar (113) (Regd. No.) (1948-1960s) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-32787

Dated to sometime between 1948 and the 1960s, this "113" from Stanwell is a unique shape that merges elements of the Acorn, the Canadian, and the bent Billiard. The bowl cants at the fore of a sinuously bent oval shank and a gently curved saddle stem of jet-black vulcanite. The bowl's forward drive keeps the shape dynamic and active in profile, while the shank-and-stem arrangement's willowy bend lends the composition a touch of gestural fluidity. A glossy, auburn-hued smooth finish dresses the stummel and showcases an impressive mixture of birdseye and flame grain about the bowl.
