Danish Estates: Peter Stokkebye Smooth Bent Panel with Mammoth (H) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-32746
Jørgen Larsen was the mastermind behind Peter Stokkebye pipes until the Danish carver developed an allergy to briar dust and was forced to retire. Larsen's early retirement means that his Stokkebye pipes are highly sought after but in short supply, making this bent Panel a rather attractive find. Framed by eight crisp facets, the bowl boasts a rich in-hand texture and a striking appearance in profile, as it tapers swiftly from its broad heel to its taut rim. The paneled shank mirrors the bowl's geometric build and extends from the low-set transition before giving way to a steeply curved saddle stem of jet-black vulcanite. A silky auburn finish dresses the stummel and highlights fine tendrils of flame grain about the bowl, while a band of mammoth accents the base of the stem and adds a touch of vibrancy to the overall composition.
