Erik Nording's Freehand shapes garner a lot of attention, and rightfully so, as the Danish carver is able to consistently deliver bold and memorable pieces. This towering Freehand fits in well with Nording's portfolio of floral shapes, the fluting channels and ridgelines around the bowl promoting the look of a blooming flower in profile. This example has been dressed in one of his striking ruby-tinged contrast stains, while the bright metal bands along the shank end and expansion rings along the stem's base offers even more visual interest.
