Stanwell's "191" is a compact rendition of the bent Bulldog shape. It pairs a broad, rotund bowl to a lifted diamond shank and a gently curved saddle stem of jet-black vulcanite. The overall form's reduced length makes this piece ideal for on-the-go smoking, and its light weight should encourage easy clenching between the teeth. The firm lines of the shank provide a bit of structure to the composition, while the wrapping beadlines around the bowl nicely demarcate the tapered rim from the rest of the stummel. The rugged Golden Danish sandblast dresses the stummel and brings vivid definition to the natural grain orientation of the briar.
