Danish Estates: Svendborg Smooth Bent Dublin (D) (by Tao) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-33214

In 1969, legendary Danish carvers Poul Ilsted and Jens "Tao" Nielsen founded the Svendborg workshop. The pair oversaw the production of the workshop's pipes through the 1970s before eventually leaving to pursue their individual pipe-making careers. This bent Dublin showcases the type of work Illsted and Nielsen made during their collaboration. It's a trim, lightweight design that positions a flaring bowl at the fore of an upturned shank and an arcing mouthpiece of jet-black vulcanite. The bowl boasts a rim that's raised slightly higher at its fore than its aft, creating a subtle forward momentum that immediately draws the eye. A smoky smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights an impressive display of flame grain about the bowl.
