Danish Estates: Former Smooth Bent Dublin with Horn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-32971
Hans "Former" Nielsen is among the most well-known and respected artisans in the world of pipe making. He began carving briar at age 15 and has since become a true master of the craft with 60 years of experience who has produced some of the finest pipes made in Denmark, or anywhere else.
This bent Dublin is an excellent example of Former's sleek and organic style. The tall, slim bowl features a softly domed rim and capacious chamber, displaying a playful cant toward the stem. The heel is soft, flowing gracefully into a svelte round shank balanced perfectly with the bowl. An accent of black vulcanite and smoky natural horn extend the shank, fitted with an expertly hand cut saddle stem, also made of vulcanite. This pipe's perfect balance of weight and proportion allow it to be clenched effortlessly, making it perfect for a long, comfortable smoke. The briar itself is no less impressive than the carving on display. Sections of excellent straight and flame grain wrap around the bowl, while swirling birdseye crowns the rim and heel, with vibrant flame grain running along the shank, all dressed in a rich auburn stain, for a an aesthetic that is unmistakably Former's.
