Danish Estates: Emil Chonowitsch Sandblasted Cutty Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-32994

Father of Jess Chonowitsch and a talented carver in his own right, Emil Chonowitsch fashioned handsome renditions of classic shapes, and this Cutty is a fine example of his style and craftsmanship. The form's characteristic forward-canted bowl, stretched transition, and flowing shank-and-stem arrangement are all present and contribute to the shape's tantalizing posture and palpable sense of momentum. The tall, floral bowl possesses a rim that's raised a touch higher at the fore than the aft, which further accentuates the composition's forward-thrusting appearance. The shank glides out of the low-set transition and meets a saddle stem of jet-black vulcanite, which makes a subtle downturn near the bit for a comfortable smoking posture. A crisp, dark sandblast dresses the stummel and draws out rippling waves of grain across the surface of the briar for plenty of tactile and visual appeal. Charming, handsome, and absolutely enticing, this piece is a stunning bit of craftsmanship, and it will surely become a treasured part of any pipes smoker's collection.
