Danish Estates: Stanwell Flawless Smooth (32) (pre-2010) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-33000
During World War 2, while Europe was embroiled in turmoil, briar scarcity and limited international shipping meant that Danish pipe smokers couldn't obtain pipes from England. To fill this void, Poul Nielsen began making pipes out of beechwood under the name Kyringe. After the war, Nielsen transitioned to making briar pipes, and eventually changed his brand's name to Stanwell. Stanwell became an immensely popular marque that often collaborated with notable Danish artisans, like Sixten Ivarsson, Jess Chonowitsch, Anne Julie, and Tom Eltang. Designed by Poul Stanwell himself, this "32" Bulldog looks like the beloved classic design, but with the roundness of the bowl rendered in a more supple manner. Replete with twin beadlines beneath its broad rim and displaying softened Danish line work through the diamond shank and saddle stem, it's dressed in the natural, honeyed stain of the Flawless finish, revealing a wealth of dense flame beneath. Unsmoked.
