Danish Estates: S. Bang Smooth Bent Egg (Jan Windelov) (pre-1984) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-33455

Svend Bang, the acclaimed founder of S. Bang, founded the Danish shop in the late 1960s. Not long after, Per Hansen came aboard as did Ulf Noltensmeier, about a year later — the duo eventually inheriting the workshop after Bang's passing. The duo is retired now but not before truly making their mark globally among artisan pipe makers.

A particular rarity among S. Bang pipes, this piece was made by Jan Windelov before Hansen and Noltensmeier's tenure at the Danish workshop. This sleek bent Egg features an elongated, supple bowl at the fore of a slim, oval shank, with the bowl displaying a dynamic forward cant that draws the eye to its softened rim. Out back, a bent vulcanite saddle stem offers an effortless clench. Dressed in a rich walnut stain, the stummel displays fine cross grain around the bowl, making this a piece sure to interest collectors of vintage Danish pipes.
