Peter Stokkebye pipes were crafted by Jørgen Larsen, an incredibly talented Danish carver who developed an unfortunate allergy to briar dust and had to eventually retire from pipe making, which is a shame as the beautiful pieces he created under the Stokkebye name are highly sought-after by collectors. This lithely bent Dublin is an exceptional piece, with the large, plump bowl garnering much of the visual weight thanks to the comparatively trim shank-and-stem combination. In addition to the impressive shaping, the grain here is quite captivating and oriented perfectly as licks of lively flame grain engulf the tall, flaring bowl, highlighted by a warm, auburn stain. Unsmoked.
