Danish Estates: Peter Stokkebye Smooth Bent Dublin (D) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-33521
Jørgen Larsen was the mastermind behind Peter Stokkebye pipes until the Danish carver developed an allergy to briar dust and was forced to retire. Larsen's early retirement means that his Stokkebye pipes are highly sought after but in short supply, making this bent Dublin a rather attractive find. All clean lines and supple curves, this fetching piece finds a tall, elegantly constructed bowl posed at the fore of a high-kicking shank-and-stem arrangement. Said bowl flares dramatically from its flat, angled, Cherrywood-like heel to its softly inflated rim. The shank-and-stem arrangement strikes a comfortable smoking posture and keeps the overall composition looking balanced, while lending a touch of pronounced curvature to the form in profile. Dressed in a gorgeous auburn stain, the stummel displays tight strands of flame grain around the flanks of the bowl, and a healthy showing of birdseye along the rim. Unsmoked.
