Hans "Former" Nielsen is a legend among pipe makers, a Danish master with a worldwide following that keeps his works of functional art in high demand. This straight Billiard is a fine exemplar of his skill, displaying his iconic design language in the tall, gently curving bowl, cheeking at the transition, and round, arrow-straight shank.

It would be a monumental understatement to say Former knows how to shape to maximize the grain, and his reputation for doing so is secured here with stunning flame grain that rises in concert with the bowl's profile, made unmissable by a bright contrast stain and smooth finish. The pipe is further complemented by an elegant silver band at the shank end, and topped by a hand crafted replacement saddle stem made by our own in-house artisan, Adam Davidson. There is some significant rim charring, which has been taken into account along with the replacement stem to allow us to offer this pipe at a very affordable price point.
