Danish Estates: Tom Eltang Sandblasted Arne Jacobsen Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-33815
Tom Eltang at the age of 16 apprenticed under renowned Danish carver Anne Julie, and for decades now he's been known in the pipe world as among the most talented and prolific carvers, cranking out handmade, artisan pieces with crisp precision and mentoring younger carvers in the craft. This sleek design is a signature shape for Tom, named after and paying homage to architect and furniture designer Arne Jacobsen, who was one of the founding fathers of the Functionalist design movement.
Pencil shanked and quite light, this piece measures more than six inches in length. The bowl is tall and subtly forward-canted, a bit of a hybrid between a Dublin and a Stack, and dressed here in a crisp black sandblast. The rim and shank end have been left smooth and dressed in a mahogany contrast stain for warm contrast, and one of Tom's handcrafted vulcanite stems stretches out back, tapering smoothly to a svelte bit that's sure to provide a comfortable smoke.
