Danish Estates: Wenhall Dane Craft Freehand Sitter (B) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-33663
While Wenhall Pipes Ltd. was based in New York City, for a short period of time, their pipes were fashioned in Denmark by Karl Erik Ottendahl, with this striking Freehand being one such pipe. The heel here is a flattened spur that enables the entirety of the composition to sit without the aid of stand, making this piece ideal for those seeking an eye-catching desk pipe. From the heel, the bowl broadens upward toward an undulating, plateau-crowned rim, while the vertically compressed diamond shank reaches upward toward a steeply curved stem. A glossy, auburn smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights fine tendrils of flame grain across the flanks of the bowl.
