Danish Estates: Leo Borgart Smooth Rhodesian with Gold (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-33806
A self-taught pipe maker, Leo Børgart had previous woodworking experience as an apprentice and later served 25 years as a police office in Copenhagen. Wanting to do something creative in his free time, Leo decided to craft pipes, and the hobby is certainly thankful for that decision. This plump Rhodesian features a curvaceous bowl with a low-set waistline delineated by the form's customary beadlines and upward taper. Behind the cheeked transition, a slim round shank is adorned with a slim gold band where it joins a uniquely stylized tapered stem. The shaping resembles a half-saddle configuration, with sharp taper that leads back from a circular base, curving slightly toward the bit, all of which is rendered from a unique, unidentifiable, amber-like material. Dressed in a rich auburn finish, the stummel displays wisps of fine grain all around the bowl, making this a unique addition to any collection.-Gabriel Bass
