Danish Estates: Harcourt Smooth Freehand (B) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-35571

During the height of the Danish Fancy style's popularity, the Harcourt brand was established, which consisted of bold, expressive Freehands created by the legendary Preben Holm for Dunhill. With a strapping build and sinuous, flowing line work, this Freehand by Harcourt is an excellent showcase of the Danish Fancy style. The bowl possesses a tall, plump figure, with thick walls gradually flaring from a rounded, protruding heel and curving toward a dark rim crowned with plateau. An upturned shank transitions from the bowl and flares to a broad face, where it accepts a demurely bent, push-style stem that features intricately stylized expansion rings. Dressing the stummel is a light hazelnut stain showcasing sweeping vertical grain around the bowl.
