Danish Estates: Jorn Larsen Smooth Bent Bulldog (5) (Uptown's) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-35074

With a background as a machinist and pipe maker, Jorn Larsen invented a copy-frazier that's still used by makers today, and though he retired in the early 2000s, his pieces are still in circulation through the estate market, as is the case with this bent Bulldog. Sweeping and dynamic, this piece sees a tall, forward-canted bowl posed at the fore of an fluidly bent shank and a steeply curved saddle stem. Though quite gestural, the shank retains the form's firm, structural lines, which lend a touch of rigidity to the shape's otherwise curvaceous silhouette. A pair of beadlines accentuate the bowl's broad waistline, while additionally denoting the rim's steady upward taper. Dressed in an auburn smooth finish, this piece offers a wealth of attractive grain.
