Danish Estates: Lasse Skovgaard Sandblasted Acorn with Horn Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-35264

The son of esteemed pipe maker Benni Jørgensen, Lasse Skovgaard has been around pipes his whole life. At 16 he started making tampers for W.Ø. Larsen; at 19 he was crafting their esteemed Straight Grain pieces. Encouraged by family friend Teddy Knudsen, Skovgaard went into the business of pipe making for himself. Skovgaard's aesthetic choices draw on his father's and Knudsen's, but his talent for organic shaping and superb finishing contributes to his distinct style.

This Acorn by Lasse Skovgaard possesses a sharp heel, from which the walls sweep upwards as they flare to the broad rim, which gently tapers as it ascends to the chamber. Out back, a broad transition quickly tapers to a lengthy horn ferrule, which joins to a high-kicking saddle stem crafted from jet-black vulcanite. Additionally, the stummel is dressed in a rustic sandblast, and its rugged texture is contrasted by the auburn smooth finish on the rim and shank end.
