Danish Estates: Jess Chonowitsch Smooth Bent Egg Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-35183

With over forty years of pipe-making experience, Jess Chonowitsch continues to craft some of the most superb, elegantly rendered works the craft has ever seen. Though his work possesses an effortless quality, the Danish carver is always striving for perfection, fashioning a design repeatedly in order to get the precise lines and proportions ideal for each shape. It's that dedication to the craft, even after all these years, even after his legacy is cemented in the eyes of his peers and new generations of pipe makers alike, that make Jess Chonowitsch's work so exemplary.

A handsome showcase of Chonowitsch's mastery of the form, this bent Egg sees a plump, full-bodied bowl positioned at the fore of an upturned shank and a demurely curved saddle stem. The bowl's muscular dimensions and thick, sturdy frame conform naturally to the hand and conceal a healthy tobacco chamber that's especially impressive given the shape's compact dimensions. The shank sweeps out of the transition and lends a pronounced curvature to the shape's silhouette before giving way to an abbreviated saddle stem, one whose gentle curvature promotes a comfortable smoking posture. A warm, ruby-hued smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights gorgeous flame grain across the bowl and shank alike.
