Danish Estates: Peter Stokkebye Smooth Billiard (H) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-35174

Crafted by Danish artisan Jørgen Larsen, Peter Stokkebye pipes were made for the Danish tobacconist of the same name and garnered a reputation as excellent smokers made from high-quality materials. The style of these pipes could range from dramatically stylized to truly understated Danish Classics, and Larsen's talented hands were deft in their shaping to ensure each example was attractive both to hold and behold. Now retired due to a briar allergy he developed, Larsen's work is available only on the estate market. This Billiard is a lovely and classic take on the iconic shape, staying true to many of the shape chart standard's timeless design choices. However, there yet remains a bit of stylish alteration about the bowl and shank, as the proportions here favor the bowl's full-bodied curves and plump, Apple-like walls. Said walls cant forward atop a rounded heel and taper slightly toward the rim while a wide transition out back gives way to a fairly short, tapering shank. The shank diminishes as it reaches toward a more swiftly tapering cumberland stem, its warm tones matching the stain of the stummel well:its hues revealing dense flame grain all the way around the bowl.
