Danish Estates: Stanwell Vario (227) (pre-2010) Tobacco Pipe

A fluid, gestural bent Dublin, this "227" from Stanwell possesses a tall bowl with a flared, softly inflated rim and a gradual taper to the heel. A trim, curling shank-and-stem arrangement stretches out back and keeps the overall design sinuous and lightweight. A dark sandblast commends the briar and coaxes out rippling waves of growth rings across the bowl, while the smoothly polished shank end and right flank of the bowl offer rich contrast: courtesy of Stanwell's Vario line.
