Danish Estates: Viggo Nielsen Jewel of Denmark Smooth Horn (9mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-35497
Viggo Nielsen, the famous father of pipe makers Kai and Jorgen Nielsen, made pipes throughout the Danish Fancy Freehand phase of pipe making that swept the world in the 1970s and '80s, and some of the influence is evident in this particular interpretation of the Horn shape. Stylish and lively, this piece features a tall, full-bodied bowl with a palpable forward cant that keeps the entire shape looking dynamic and active in profile. Two panels frame the aft of the bowl and, along with the triangular shank, lend a touch of rigid structure to the otherwise free-flowing form, while a gorgeous auburn smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights tight bands of cross grain across the bowl's flanks.
