Danish Estates: W.O. Larsen Port Rhodesian (99) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-35666
W.Ø. Larsen hosts a rich history within its home of Copenhagen. Having been one of the oldest tobacco stores in Denmark, its founding dates back to 1864, later handcrafting pipes in their own workshop starting in the early 1960s. Before closing in 2005, W.Ø. Larsen served as a home for some of Denmark's most prolific artisans, including Teddy Knudsen, Tonni Nielsen, Jess Chonowitsch, Hans "Former" Nielsen, and more. A novel take on the classic shape, this Rhodesian from W.Ø. Larsen incorporates a Horn-like gesture into the composition, making for a piece with a dynamic character. The bowl cants forward eagerly, its walls flaring from the sweeping heel toward a pair of crisp beadlines, where they then taper toward the flat rim. A round shank seamlessly flows from the bowl's transition and tapers to meet a downturned saddle stem with a trim, brass-colored accent at the junction. The stummel wears a rich, chestnut stain that showcases healthy grain throughout.
