Danish Estates: Ben Wade Classical Golden Walnut Smooth Bent Pot Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-35671

The Ben Wade name has a long, winding history. Founded in 1860 in Leeds, Yorkshire, the marque manufactured pipes there for over a century, the factory weathering German air raids during World War II. Lane Ltd. purchased Ben Wade in 1962, later partnering with the legendary Preben Holm to release a line of pipes in the Danish Fancy style, as seen here. A bold interpretation of the form, this bent Pot from Ben Wade features a stout bowl, formed by thick walls rising from the broad base toward the subtly canted rim. Out back, a sturdy stretch of shank lifts from the bowl and pairs to a jet-black acrylic stem, which features a spiral-carved expansion ring for a playful touch. Dressing the stummel is a smoky, walnut stain that highlights sweeping vertical grain all throughout.
