Danish Estates: Mike Sebastian Bay Rusticated Bent Brandy Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-35674
Guided by his curiosity, Mike Sebastian Bay became acquainted with pipe making after searching for someone who could repair his father's old pipes. This would lead Bay into meeting pipe-making master Tom Eltang, who would take him on as an apprentice and later as a team member within his workshop. Eltang's influence is evident throughout Bay's portfolio, especially within his rustication work, with his master's teaching having informed his own unique style.
This bent Brandy from Mike Sebastian Bay presents a distinctly Danish character with its flowing sense of line, all within diminutive Nosewarmer dimensions. The bowl is squat in stature, its plump walls tapering from a broad base toward the smooth, rounded rim. Sweeping upward from the transition is a muscular shank that pairs to a subtly downturned saddle stem for a lively profile. Fashioned from swirling vulcanite, the stem's warm and dark tones complement the stummel's earthy stain, which dresses a distinctive, rippling rustication inspired by Eltang himself.
