Danish Estates: Holtorp Smooth Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-35727

P. Holtorp crafted pipes for the famous Pipe-Dan tobacco shop in Copenhagen, Denmark. Holtorp worked alongside famous Danish pipe makers like Sven Knudsen, Tom Eltang, and Gert Holbek, before later moving to his own workshop. Holtorp's pipes are known to break the mold of the near-ubiquitous Danish Fancy Freehand movement at the time, focusing on crafting large, elegant briars that featured bold shaping. This bent Dublin fits in well with that style, a firm heel acting as the center for the visual weight and supporting the bowl's measured flare toward an undulating rim. A wide transition gives way to a comparatively short shank, one extended by a fitment of amber-toned acrylic that acts as the junction to a diamond-shaped, tapered stem with a matching expansion ring at its base. Dressed in a warm stain, the stummel showcases handsome grain throughout its ample surface area.
