This Acorn from York is a towering rendition of the form, its tall bowl formed by sturdy walls reaching high from the softened, flaring reservedly toward the waist, and then curving gently to the subtly chamfered rim. Housed within the bowl is a capacious chamber, making this piece well-suited to leisurely smoking sessions. A muscular shank lifts gently from the transition and pairs to a quickly tapering stem of jet-black vulcanite. The stummel wears a warm, chestnut stain that draws out whorls of birdseye across the left flank.
