Danish Estates: Frasorteret Sandblasted Bent Dublin (by Preben Holm) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-35843

A leading figure for the Danish Fancy movement, the late Preben Holm's influence continues to permeate throughout the pipe-making world. Holm's fascination with pipes began as early as early as 13 years old, with the pipes and tobacco department of his father's shop capturing his attention. At 15 years old, while working in the pipe department's repair shop, he would save up enough money to buy machinery to fashion pipes of his own. Holm's career would continue to flourish from there as he started selling his pipes to Pipe-Dan, and at the age of 22, he would even go on to lead his own workshop of 45 employees. A seconds line by Preben Holm, Frasorteret pipes were made to offer the Danish carver's iconic style at a more accessible price point, as showcased here. This bent Dublin by Preben Holm exudes a stolid disposition with its broad figure and muscular physique. From the softened heel, the bowl grows thick that flare widely as they rise toward the undulating rim. A robust oval shank lifts from the bowl's transition, punctuated with an expansive acrylic mount that accepts a trim, arcing stem. The stummel wears a rugged, hickory-hued sandblast that reveals rippling growth rings wrapping around the bowl.
