Danish Estates: Svendborg Smooth Bent Billiard (Careen Padouk) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-35900

A collaboration between Jens "Tao" Nielsen and Poul Ilsted, the Svendborg pipe factory was established in 1969. After meeting each other while working for Erik Nørding, the two sought to create a line of pipes that employed more classical sensibilities rather than those of the Danish Fancy style. This bent Billiard from Svendborg is a handsome showcase of the workshop's traditionally inclinations, featuring a tall, robust bowl upfront, formed by straight walls tapering gradually from the broad, plump base toward the rim. From a defined transition, a sleek shank gently lifts as it carries a slight taper into a gingerly downturned stem, the arrangement granting the composition a fluid profile and a comfortable smoking posture. A smooth, chestnut stain dresses the stummel and reveals healthy grain throughout.
