Danish Estates: Nørding Smooth Bent Brandy Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-36163

With a pipe-making career that dates to the 1960s, Erik Nørding is a prolific Danish carver who's known around the world for his signature take on the Danish Fancy design style. This bent Brandy is an older piece from Nørding, and it's one that showcases a more balanced, timeless style, with clean, smooth lines that stick rather close to Danish classicism. The transition is wide and gives way to a short, sharply lifted, ovoid shank that's met by a similarly tapering shank of smartly curved black vulcanite: a rare material across the Danish carver's pipes. The bowl is plump and pert and fits nicely in the hand, its low-set waist and rounded heel giving wat to plumply tapering walls that urge forward as they reach to the rim. Dressed in a warm, rich stain and smooth finish, the briar showcases flame grain through the flanks and dense birdseye across the underside.
