Danish Estates: Soren Smooth Freehand Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-36251
Søren Refbjerg Rassmussen founded a workshop in 1969, and employed a large staff throughout the 70s, crafting pipes under the name Søren. Later in life, he handcrafted pipes under the name Refbjerg, primarily making traditional Danish shapes. This Freehand, like many we've seen from the Søren workshop, consists of a flared, forward-canted bowl that stands atop a flat, pedestal-like heel. Said bowl is married to a vertically inclined shank-and-stem arrangement, which promotes a comfortable smoking posture and adds a good deal of gesture to the shape's profile. Dressing this piece is a warm smooth finish that highlights striking grain throughout the stummel.
