Danish Estates: Poul Winslow Smooth Bent Brandy (B) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-39148
One of Denmark's most prolific artisans, Poul Winsløw got his start in pipe making in the workshop of Preben Holm, a pioneer of the Danish Fancy carving style. Having honed his craft over the last five decades, Poul has cultivated a unique style that allows him to touch on his Danish Fancy roots while also showcasing some of the more reserved elements of Danish Functionalism. This bent Brandy is an excellent example of the artisan's refined style.
While the walls of the bowl display signature Brandy curves, they are quite short due to the bowl's abbreviated heel. Said heel curves upward, continuing the sweeping momentum of the flowing shank-and-stem arrangement. The stem of this piece is highly stylized and gracefully bent, promoting a comfortable smoking posture. The stummel of this offering wears a vibrant auburn stain that draws out concentrated tendrils of flame grain around the bowl and intense birdseye on the top and bottom of the shank and the bowl's heel.
