Danish Estates: Bjarne Smooth Rhodesian Tobacco Pipe

Bjarne Nielsen turned away from a lucrative career in foreign affairs to create pipes in the 1970s, and pipe smokers everywhere are better off for it. Bjarne skewed more traditional than other Danish carvers of his era, but still incorporated creative freehand shaping cues into his pipes. This Rhodesian by Bjarne is a modestly sized rendition of the classic form, possessing an incredibly trim and demurely curved shank-and-stem arrangement that supports a tall, full-bodied bowl. The shape's characteristic beadlines are set low on the bowl, emphasizing a broad waistline and the chamber's walls' conical taper to the rim. A warm auburn finish completes the ensemble and highlights striking flame grain across the bowl's flanks.
