Danish Estates: Johs Smooth Rhodesian Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-001-38843

Owning and operating a pipe and tobacco shop with his wife, Doris, Mogens "Johs" Johansen entered the industry in the 1980s, drawing inspiration from his close friend and fellow pipe craftsman, Peter Hedegaard. In 1992, Johs began working alongside renowned artisan Bjarne Nielson, and when Nielson died suddenly in 2008, Johs transitioned to making his own pipes. Today, he's known for crafting classic Danish shapes in his Ravenhøj workshop adjacent to his family's tobacco shop. Johs pipes tend to be more traditionally inclined, often presented in larger forms across smooth and sandblasted finishes. Save for a few cut from cumberland, all of his stems are crafted from ebonite, and Johs uses briar leftover from Bjarne's stock — enough, he says, to last a lifetime and boasting years of age.
