Danish Estates: Nording Handmade Smooth Bent Dublin with Silver (16) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-001-39036
A trailblazer for the Danish Fancy style, Erik Nørding has been handcrafting pipes since the 1960s. Even before his pipe-making career, Nørding always had a knack for invention. Taking after his father, he worked as a blacksmith when he was 15 years old and later studied engineering, all in preparation to one day take over his family's factory. After graduating, Nording veered away from running the factory and took up fashioning pipe-making machinery, which would lead him toward making his own pipes. Nørding's Handmade series showcase's his bold shaping style within more traditionally inclined shapes, as seen with this handsome bent Dublin. This piece is a notably soft interpretation of the shape, with the bowl's thick walls flaring from the sweeping heel toward the inflated rim. A sinuously upturned shank makes a defined transition from the bowl, punctuated with a vibrant silver accent as it meets a demurely curved stem. The stummel wears a rich, chestnut stain that displays lovely birdseye along the rim and sweeping flame grain along the bowl's flanks.
