About This Pipe
An icon within the Danish pipe-making world, Hans "Former" Nielsen has been crafting stunning pieces for over six decades. His pipes are renowned for their intricate line work, sophisticated design cues, and impressive engineering, making them ideal for those seeking both beauty and function from their smoking instruments.
This Apple is a lovely offering from the seasoned artisan, replete with clean lines; soft, gentle curves; and handsome grain. The bowl's supple curves lend the form a satisfying in-hand presence, while the arrow-straight shank and swiftly tapered stem add a touch of sleekness to the composition. Former read the briar skillfully as ever when carving this piece: Contour-defining cross grain punctuates the fore and aft of the bowl, as well as the underside of the stummel, while maelstroms of birdseye swirl around the flanks. These lovely grain patterns are accentuated by a smooth, chestnut finish that, in conjunction with the jet-black stem, maintains a timeless color palette.
