About This Pipe
With nearly fifty years at the workbench, Tom Eltang remains one of Denmark's most influential pipe makers, shaping the craft through both his own production and his mentorship of emerging artisans. His commitment to precision, engineering, and fine finish work has made his pipes consistently sought after by collectors, cementing his reputation as a master in his field.
This bent Egg displays the gentle curves and flowing lines associated with Danish design. The bowl leans forward, its rounded, full lower section tapering smoothly toward a rim polished at its inner edge, while the lifted heel reinforces the canted stance. Light cheeking at the transition leads into a softly rising, rounded shank fitted with a boxwood accent. Eltang completes the piece with one of his hand-cut vulcanite stems, its deep hue pairing well with the high-contrast stain that dresses the stummel, highlighting beautiful clusters of birdseye throughout the bowl's flanks.
