English Estates: Dunhill Shell Briar Quaint (5) (RG) (1986)

Product Number: 004-002-7560

This is but the second "Ring Grain" Quaint I've ever seen, the first one being the big bent Egg which immediately preceded it in this very same estate batch. And looking at our archives, it's no surprise I'd never seen one until today; only three others have ever turned up here before. The bent Egg was stamped a Group 6, yet was readily of HTXL scale, and, similarly, this Group 5-stamped number looks to have been underrated as well, with a bowl that stands about a good 1/4" taller than my personal Group 5 Dublin. Despite all that extra height, it sits very well, and as for the ring grain, well, of that there is no doubt.
