English Estates: James Upshall Smooth Apple (P) (6) (FH)

Product Number: 004-002-7482

James Upshall's grading system is pretty straightforward, the "B" a rarefied higher grading of the Straight Grain series that works its way up through "G", "E", "X" and "XX". While I can't really attest to the accuracy of "Straight Grain", I can say there is plenty of it.grain that is, a nice, big cloud of birdseye on the right flank and cross-grain on the front face. As for the shaping, it's solidly English, albeit both rather large (Dunhill Group 5 or 6), and forgoes the usual rounded shank of the Apple for a broad, flat one that allows the pipe to sit.
