English Estates: Dunhill Amber Root Christmas Pipe 1999 'Seven Swans a-Swimming' (3108) (150/500) (Unsmoked)
Product Number: 004-002-12559
Dunhill's "08" bent Bulldog is such a classic rendition of the characteristically English shape that it could easily be used as a template for all iterations of the form moving forward, and here we find it as 1999's Christmas Pipe, a series of briars released annually by the venerable marque and only in limited quantity. From 1993 to 2004, Dunhill followed the "Twelve Days of Christmas" theme, and this particular edition saw the addition of "Seven Swans a-swimming", characterized by sterling silver tamper depicting the water fowl frolicking amongst a patch of cattails. An engraving on the pipe's silver band reinforces the theme, as does the book-like case in which it is displayed. And if you needed more convincing, the pipe itself is an Amber Root, meaning you can expect some pretty lovely grain, paired here to a stem of rich cumberland. Did I mention it's unsmoked?- Daniel Bumgardner
