English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar with 14k Gold Spigot (36) (4) (R) (1960)
Product Number: 004-002-17328
I was four years old when this pipe was made, and I didn't have the discretionary funds at the time to find and purchase it, or I'd definitely have done so. Whoever did end up with it, though, took pretty good care of it. The gold spigot mount first catches the eye, and it's elegant, stamped only with "14k " and "AD" for Alfred Dunhill. Interestingly, the stamp is upside down, perhaps reflecting a bit of momentary inattention at the factory. It's a long pipe, with excellent cross-cut grain illuminated by a warm stain. With only some minor Rim Charring and chamber carbonizing, it's stem logo is worn but still visible, and this piece is ready for another four decades of enjoyment.- Chuck Stanion
