English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar (0511) (1977)
Product Number: 004-002-17284
Simply a straightforward, traditional take on the classic Apple shape, this Dunhill Root Briar from 1977 is a great example of the legendary marque's approach to shape design. The bowl is softly rounded and plump as can be, with just a touch of extra height and taper to the rim. The shank and stem follow an elegant taper, seemingly giving the curvaceous bowl even more visual weight. As you might expect, it offers a comfortable feel in hand, with impressively stout chamber walls for a subtle warmth when smoked. The stummel's warm chestnut complements the traditional shaping exceptionally well while also highlighting some particularly nice birdseye across the bowl's flanks.- Andrew Wike
