English Estates: Askwith Sandblasted Cutty (2013)
Product Number: 004-002-17258
Though not one of Chris Askwith's more extroverted, colorful offerings, this Cutty still fits well into the English carver's classic aesthetic and oft-seen, pocketable proportions. As a shape, the Cutty is as classic as they come — having been one of the first designs seen in clay tavern pipes of old. Here, though, Chris has abbreviated the form considerably, poising a forward canted bowl that tapers toward a striking foot below the heel on the end of a sleek shank and stem combination. Wearing a concise tan blast, it hearkens back to English finishes of old and is in good condition, showing only some rim charring and chamber carbonizing.-Truett Smith
