English Estates: Digby Sandblasted Apple (9487) (by GBD)
Product Number: 004-002-17384
Digby pipes were a seconds line for GBD, and they were even advertised as such, "made by the makers of the famous GBD." GBD was launched in 1850 by three gentlemen, Ganneval, Bondier, and Donninger, using the initials of their names. This square-shanked, sandblasted Apple made someone happy, as it has been regularly smoked, but is still in good condition, its most glaring deficit being a number of scratches on the bottom of the shank. It's a firm sitter, though, so you won't see them often. A shallow blast rides the bowl and shank, and the rim is smooth. With a long stretch of stem, it's a pipe offering many years of contented puffing.- Chuck Stanion
